The “guidelines” of the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies are tools that have been systematically developed for clinicians to help in the decision-making process in specific situations. They are based on current scientific knowledge and procedures that have been proven in practice, and help to ensure safer medicine. However, they must also take into account economic aspects. The “guidelines” are not legally binding for clinicians and therefore have no effect in terms of liability.
